Hainault's Mark Steers and Brian Ward finally got the weather conditions for a float day on the E2 course for their ten mile time trial on Saturday.
After a season of riding the usually super-fast course in gale-force winds the riders had perfect weather and took advantage by producing a brace of outstanding rides. Steers rode his fixed-wheel bike with a geear ratio of 101" and crossed the line in a personal best time of twenty one minutes and eight seconds. "Today was a day as rare as hens teeth on the E2, no wind to speak of for a change Just a very slight breeze and brilliant warm sunshine. Rode fixed as it was such a still day, sort of enjoyed it and I trimmed a few more seconds off my PB!" he later said. Time trial secretary Brian Ward managed to smash his PB with a storming ride to stop the clock in 24.41. The event was won by Richard O'Rourke of Flitch Crono in 19.19.
